Psych Major Battles Condition With a Smile - Fall 2007 - (PERSONALITY PROFILE / FEATURE) Jenny Aimon is a non-trad with a special way of living. - The way Aimon looks at it is refreshingly different. “I like to consider myself the poster-child,” she said, sitting in the cool night air, smiling softly as she glanced at people she knew outside of Inner Circle Pizza. “I’ve helped people understand it before, and it doesn’t bother me to talk about it.”

Learn the Lingo to Communicate - Spring 2007 - PUBLISHED AT VINDY.COM - (FEATURE) Research shows modern Appalachian Language is not so Different - The study, An Empirical Assessment to Modern Appalachian English, includes other unusual speaking habits. A-prefixing, pronouncing a verb as “we will go a-walking,” and pleonastic pronouns, unnecessary pronouns in a sentence such as the word “he” in the sentence, “my brother, he went to school,” were found to be common West Virginian traits.

Coffee on Campus has New Perks - Spring 2007 - (Life / Living) Health benefits of coffee for college kids. - The Mocha House on Tiffany Blvd in Boardman is an older business in the area, having been established about seven years ago. Lindsey Hoskings, a server there, has also taken notice of the trend. “Our customers include both YSU professors and students, and business is growing, despite the other coffee shops in Youngstown,” she said. Hoskings, a coffee drinker, has about a pot a day and knows some of the health benefits of the drink. “I have heard good things about the antioxidants and caffeine in coffee,” she said. The Mocha House does not advertise these benefits, since the shop focuses on being more of a restaurant then a café.

Thunder in Your Wallet - Spring 2007 - (COMMENTARY) A new local attraction is overcharging. Why? - This heavy amount is about how much is paid to see a good music band at a local bar. But for nosebleed seats at a less-than-mainstream sports event, the price is outrageous. The food alone at the Chevy Center can cost over $5 per item. If a four-person family gets hungry, you’re looking at a trip costing over $120 dollars.

New Bill Offers Hope - Spring 2007 - (ANALYSIS) In light of the Virginia Tech massacre, schools need to toughen up. Ohio legislation is cracking down on terror inducers. - H.B. 142 will be an effective tool for both reprimanding those that are caught and convicted, as well as curving potential troublemakers made wary of the harsher punishment. This method may have been helpful on November 3, when Trumbull County Life Skills was evacuated due to a called-in bomb threat. The offender was never caught.

Public Officials Make Local Reporting Difficult - Spring 2007 - (Politics) YSU Journalists have trouble getting answers.. - “All the information that [the students] were requesting is open record in the state of Ohio,” says YSU professor and Jambar advisor Alyssa Lenhoff. “It’s shameful that courts in our state are breaking the law and showing such disregard for the public’s right to know.”
